Episode 5 is out and you can listen to it right here. You can also subscribe (subscribe! It’s fun!) on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or wherever get your podcasts.

This week we had our first guest, Icelandic journalist and writer Sigrún Davíðsdóttir on our show. We talked about writing in the morning, the magical state of mind she gets from writing, and reminds us not to get frustrated if we get stuck.

Sigrún is a friend of Olivia’s from London, and she and Meghan enjoyed catching up and having the luxury of just talking about writing and creativity. We learned a lot, and we found out why Sigrún is such a good cook.

Here’s a link to Sigrún’s blog, and you can also follow her on Twitter. She’s also on Medium, and has written for lots of other publications.

Other things mentioned in this episode:

  • Icelandic literary culture is discussed. We liked this article mentioning it, from the Icelandic Literature Center.
  • Need more proof? The NYT wrote about literary tours, and NPR did a piece about the Christmas book-flood where people give each other books as gifts.
  • Olivia mentioned the Icelandic classic Independent People.
  • Sigrún mentioned Georges Simenon, a Belgian detective writer.
